Chaining up drives

    Wyoming does have a chain law
    they rarely use it. for the most part it is driver discreation.
    some places with the pack snow/ice could be a good idea.

    Oh, and all this advice on chaining front axle vs. rear axle, depends on the truck and the driver. I've always chained only my rear axle, never spun out, never gotten stuck, never use power divider on paved surfaces. Unless told otherwise, I rarely chain my front drive.

    Been on wy-28 with a chain law in effect, thats it so far.

    The whole "main drive axle" is a complete myth. Both diffs on a tandem truck receive an equal amount of torque, thus they do an equal amount of driving.

    Torque will always be limited to the amount required to spin the wheel with the least amount of traction. Locking the inter-axle changes things. It allows 50% of the torque to both axles at all times. So it really makes no difference as to which axle gets the chains.
