That still will not get you out of a overweight ticket.

correct, but will get the boss to pay it... Fact is, in winter.. most if not all of the carriers up in the northlland are running a little heavy. Just the way it is. Summer, we are all running a little light.

You must be loading right up to the mark. We don't do that and I don't know of any major that will go out and break the law. They can't afford it because they need a clean record so they can pull off all the other stuff they do.

Up here it's just the way it is, Everyone I see loads up to the mark... Even the refinery guys, and the major players. DOT typically cuts us some slack up to around 900lbs over. If you act like an arse, you will likely get a ticket. Fact is, DOT around these parts is much to busy, busting bull haulers and grain hoppers that are 10,000-20,000 plus overweight. We pull the same gallon orders winter and summer.

I know exactly what you are saying. We were never bothered by any inspections or checks because they knew we kept our trucks up. It also helps when you provide a truck to them for training.

Yeah, I see and talk to the majors every day up here. Funny story a few told me is they offered 2 trucks to be for weight reasons and training for the State... They totally stripped them down, then had no hoses no tubes.. they even removed the trays on one trailer... Nothing in any box... Then they put 20 gallons of fuel in the tractor and off to the Super Coop these two trucks went... They used them for a standard weight model for what the company can legally haul.... and State tanker training inspections. One of the guys that drove the truck there was even worried about running out of fuel on the way back to the yard. Totally funny the way he explained it. The state even issued them some sort of paper work on what they should be able to haul... Yeah right, huh?

Yeah our equipment is very very well kept too, very few up here run crap. And the ones that do, pay for it big time.

The guys that weigh gasoline trucks know there can be no standard weight given because of temperature. Plus no two trucks weigh the same. I'm surprised to hear that a large company would strip a truck down to weigh it. I always weighed with a full fuel tank and all the gear that went along with that truck. Our problem was finding a scale that would weigh the whole truck. The nice thing about working there was any driver could take the truck to the shop if he or she felt an item needed to be repaired. No time wasted in asking for permission, just fix it the right way and get another load.

I haul Jet fuel and AvGAs, we have to do a density check with every load and every compartment. The customer and the rack then adjust their records. We just load 8000 gallons for a full load(even though we can haul more) or less depending on the customers needs.

Jet fuel or Jet A always have strict requirements. I know that most places load do the QA check then seal the compartments. We had a shift at one terminal that all they did was run to the airport and back. Some guys liked that but I needed to be in the city and watch what was going on.
