i got thanked tons of times by trucking companies and drivers for a service i provided that i enjoyed doing..instead of being fined by scale operators and d.o.t for tire depth and brakes out of adjustment and overdue servicing i offered a service and charged 25 dollars.. heres what i did for that fee,, grease all fittings , set brakes , check tired tread depth , check air lines ,couplers lights and check for leaks.. check drum and shoe thickness and check for wheel seal leaks and fill hubs to level line, i wrote down on sheet any needed repairs and date of next safety. i supplied the grease for this also.. when a trailer is sitting at a factory for a weekend or overnight or at someones home i got called with a list of trailer numbers and went to that location to do the job and also set clutches for drivers. 25 dollars saved trucking companies and drivers tons of fines on the road and kept track of full service dates for them to be serviced.. replacing a wheel seal should take no longer than 30 minutes with new shoes and hardware kit and 80/90 filled up with brakes set ready to roll. i guess i did so many that thats all the time i took to complete the job done properly. happy trucking out there people drive safe. also takes 15 minutes tops to replace a 2 piece clutch brake so make sure you only get charged 15 minutes labour.
