He did his planning but still as a gullible newbie the school recruiter talked him into signing the contract and that his tickets wouldn't be a problem. Same way they talk most of you into driving for the mega-carriers. You believe its not right but don't know any better and the recruiters reassure you it will be fine and you will make lots of money and be home all the time. So you sign on with a mega only to find out its not all its cracked up to be and had you done your own research would have learned there are plenty of companies out there that would have taken you.

Sorry, just re-read that and for some reason it sounded harsh. Just comparing, not intended to be bashing or negative...

Yes, this website is really top notch! Even as an experienced driver I still learn stuff all the time on here and even better is that now that I am out of the game I can keep up with what's going on out there and stay informed through this site. Though the photo gallery makes me want to cry sometimes! Miss the adventures!

However with that being said I may just come out of retirement....

Another Plus in trucking ,,, if you want to Drive, after you Retire, for whatever Reason ,, You Can ! !

I mean once you reach a place in life to have choices like chompi that's what the American Dream is all about , its not always the money but the freedom of choice, and trucking offers a way to do this.

I was born in FL and lived in FL several years of my life.

Where I was (around Spring Hill/Brooksville) the cost of living was not more than anywhere else.

    $15hr? :) I WISH I made that.

My pay checks stink. Seriously. My last one? Try $248. That's right. $248
The MOST I've made so far? $730. Usually? Around $640, GROSS. I net usually $100 less than gross.

$15hr would be a step up from what I make now :)
But, I get days where I'm "on call" (refer to rant thread I started for further details) at least once a week.
