I am 19 years old & I live in the state of north carolina and I am interested in getting a class b cdl to drive bucket trucks, grapple truck and cranes. I've called many cdl driving schools and they don't offer a class for what I want. Can anyone point me to the right direct so I can get started, thank you !

Get the Class-A cdl. This way, you can drive Class-A cdl trucks or Class-B cdl trucks.
When a better job opportunity is available or the company you work for buys a heavier crane truck, you'll be prepared.

I am not aware of pure CDL B Schools. However you can take a truck as a Class B test. Generally without a trailer.

However the truck must not be able to tow a trailer more than 10,000 pounds. Thats a hard limit. And the truck must weight 26001 or more pounds. You will find that 46000 or so pounds gross is the realm of it.

You need general knowledge, airbrake and manual (To avoid a automatic restriction) to start off.

One possible vehicle that is a Class B is a segmented tourbus as seen in DC Metro.

Class A takes care of everything except Motorcycles anyway So in for a penny in for a pound. Go all the way. You will find in your lifetime driving both class A and B without issues. Depending on which Yankee that thinks CDLA is overqualified in the hiring office lol...

You can add my voice to those saying get the class A. Just stay OUT of company financed schools if you can. Go find a technical school that offers CDL training.

I would also add check out this school. It's in the Norfolk area of Virginia.
