Hello,
I've been a member for a while,
and have really learned a lot from this forum,
and appreciate the expertise passed along from the experienced drivers.
This'll be my first post.
Arizona based.
64 years old.
Perfect health.
Studying for my CLP.
I'm using the CDL Genie,
which I like a lot.
From my research,
my understanding of the testing here in Arizona,
was that I could take the General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Combination Vehicles tests on separate days.
I went into the MVD last week and was told that the General Knowledge and the Combination Vehicles test had to be done on the same day,
and the Air Brakes could be done on a separate day.
At that time I had studied the General Knowledge material,
but not the Combination Vehicles material.
So I gave it a week and studied the Combination Vehicles material,
and went back this past Thursday.
While going through the verification process I was told that "The address checking system was not working".
I went back the next day,
but while the CSR was reviewing my paperwork,
she pointed out that my DOT Physical Long Form was missing a tick mark to indicate that I was cleared to drive without any stipulations.
So I went to NextCare where I had my physical done,
but was told the DOT Physician would not be in until Monday.
At this point, I got a couple:
1. Has anybody in AZ gone through this recently,
and can verify that the General Knowledge and Combination Vehicles tests must be done on the same day,
with the option of doing the Air Brakes on a separate day?
2. Is this level of bureaucratic bungling and confusion typical?
Or did I just hit the lottery!
I'm assuming this'll all get resolved,
but I did spend some time last night wondering - "What the H*ll!"
LOL
Let me know,
and have a great weekend!

I went through a kind of a "What the ####" phase last night,
while I processing everything that had happened,
but when I got up this morning,
I was more like "I guess this is how it is."
And I've had plenty of jobs that were more like organized chaos so . . .
Away we go!!!FullMetalJacket Thanks this. -
This is all done in one step and I doubt that it varies from state to state.
Pry your wallet open and collect your CLP.
Non of the other are specific to getting the A-CLP that’s why you can get them later if you so choose.
Personally I’d just study and take them all at the same time. It’s really not all that difficult.
Don’t know what CDL genie is..never heard of it but here’s a link to free tests for the individual endorsements on TTR.

Yep, just take them all in one trip.
I just used the practice tests here & took them all, plus all endorsements (sans hazardous) in one shot.
Not difficult at all if you just go through the practice tests multiple times until you feel ready.Concorde Thanks this. -
Much appreciated.
I'm looking at Knight training in Phoenix.
Taking the tests has not been the problem.
Everything else has been the problem.
Knight needs:
General Knowledge,
Combination Vehicles,
and Air Brakes,
in order to be eligible for their training.
I did get the DOT Physical done,
but the Physician neglected to tick one of the boxes.
So Monday I have to go back to Emergency Care,
and see about getting the DOT Physical paperwork in order.
Then go back to the MVD and try again.
Once I get the 3 exams done,
I'll get on with a Mega that trains,
and go from there.FullMetalJacket and Concorde Thank this. -

TruckerCountry.com is my go-to for all endorsement & free practice tests.
Chinatown, Concorde and FullMetalJacket Thank this. -
Haven't tried TTR's onsite tests in over 10yrs & just tried.
I now seem to remember that it only works on computer & not mobile devices. Figured that would have been updated by now.
Haven't checked out @Chinatown app recommendation, but will soon.
