Unfortunatley it is NOT indirect. When the securement device only connects to one side on the trailer, it gets only 1/2 the WLL. Autocar posted the link to the regulation, and also quoted it. not much can be said about it other than that is just the way it is, no matter how or what you were taught, That's the regs

If you securement goes from the trailer over or through the load back to the trailer, it is indirect securement. You are thinking that because the horseshoe does not go to the other side of the trailer, but returns to the same side of the trailer that it is thus direct. You are incorrect. DIRECT SECUREMENT goes from the trailer to the load....never back to the trailer.
You have your regs book, find it yourself. -
I already, not only linked, but copied and pasted the regs. It is stated, right in the reg, that the WLL is the same as direct tiedown. I suggest you read and digest the official information provided, as that is what counts, not lunch counter interpretations.CAXPT Thanks this.
