Okay, I'm new to the trucking industry and am thinking about going to work for a Expiditer company . I've had several offers but I am confused about the com data card. Some company's want to pay my co driver and I a 40% split and some other company's want to pay us 45% split and pay for our fuel on a com data card which I think the gas on the com data is coming out of the 45% split. The owners that wants to do the com data says it's a better deal , but to me it doesn't sound right. He has only been in business for a year and he also said that I would need to pay for my own transportation to orientation and that I'm REQUIRED to pay for oils changes and tolls but he said the i will get reimbursed. Can someone please brake this com data thing down in simple terms please
Com data Card ?

Comdata is a bank. A very large bank. Companies put monies in accounts at said bank. It's like the original ATM card.
The fuel pumps at truck stops all recognize Comdata. Enter your info, codes, poof, fuel pump is on.
Companies, especially large ones, put settlements on Comdata cards ( accounts ). It's just simpler for them, than dealing with a 1,000 different banks and credit unions doing direct deposits.
You can set up a direct deposit to your bank from the Comdata card.
As far as what each company is willing to give you in compensation, has nothing to do with Comdata.x1Heavy, CrappieJunkie and bdkilgore Thank this. -
I can't believe with all the red flags you're worried about com data. That is probably the most legitimate thing about this job.
x1Heavy, SixShooterTransport, CrappieJunkie and 3 others Thank this. -

If you’re buying gas for a truck then you have bigger problems than just a comdata card
RoadRooster, allniter and Freddy57 Thank this. -

The people who have been calling me are owner operator through Panther . It seems each owner handles his operations diffrent. It makes it hard for a newbie without any knowledge of expediting to make the right choice . Maybe just going with a big trucking company over the road would be a better decision. I really had my heart set on Expiditing but I dont know enough about it. Thank you for the reply
