Here's a silly thought but a sure fire way of passing the pretrip test is make up a song about all the parts to the test kind of like (the hip bone is connected to the thigh bone)song, lol.

... I hope you're not checking for brake fluid... just a tad waste of time there, and every truck would fail that pretrip

Yes that stuff is all part of the pre-trip but you didn't say that, you said you tailor your pre-trip to the truck ("my pre trip and post trip is catered to the truck") which to me means that you are not looking at the same things for every truck as you should. OK you need oil in one, that's a daily oil check anyway, and yes you have an electrical issue in another which means that you put that on your list and have a mechanic check it OR you don't drive it.

Now that driver wasn't too lucky or the electrical issue was bad, either way, YOU have the final say in if the truck is safe or not, not the mechanic, not the owner - YOU. If the electrical problems wasn't properly fix, YOU are the one who makes that determination and it is the pre-trip that you have a chance to find that. If I was told to run around a scale house, I would have told them to stick it and go find another job. It is hard for people to understand that their CDL is far more important than any job. To be exact, I have walked away form a couple companies who wanted me to do something that would get me a ticket, I didn't care even though I have bills to pay there is enough work for me to do.

I'm from Kenosha, wi. I'd be willing to relocate if the job was good enough though.

Hi Cubsfan97, Kenosha, you say. Not much happening in Kenosha nowadays, thanks to "you know who". Have you checked CL? Last Monday, there were 186 transport openings on Milw. CL, and over 300 on Chicago CL. That should keep you busy for a while.:yes2557:

Most Craigslist ads I found wanted experience or were ads for big name carriers.
