A couple of days ago I had an engine protection shut off fault due to low coolant. I was able to pull over to pop the hood to take a look. I did have this issue on my last truck. Turned out there was a build up of sediment on the sensor and at the bottom of the tank, so we replaced both with no further issue. Thinking this was the same issue, just a different truck, we replaced another tank.....
Less than a day's drive later, the same fault popped back up and cut off about 20(?) seconds later with no engine cut off..... happened a couple of times this morning.
This tells me we either fixed the wrong problem, or not the whole one and there's more to the story. What could we have missed?

Paccar had a batch of bad coolant level sensors, maybe some are still in the supply chain?
-
Can also be the connector to the sensor. Have a rash of Freightliner trucks with that issue
baha Thanks this. -
Check your transmission fluid while you are checking. That is if you have a water cooled transmission.

2019 Freightliner: radiator coolant hose came off and all fluid came out of engine. Engine protection shut off turn the truck off. Is there still a chance Imy engine may be damaged?

Also coolant hose came off during regen. What causes this to happen? Truck was running fine until regen. Regen on dash showed full red bar.

Is the engine damaged? Most likely no, but are we 100% certain? No and only a competent mechanic can tell you. -
9jgf9er Thanks this.

Don’t notice I was resting during regen.
