I’m curious about what your thoughts are on state lotteries if we should be looking for the government to protect us from ourselves.

Sorry but it isn't the government's job to intervene in a contractual agreement.
I keep hearing about how bad l/p are, those who fail are those who see the big bucks and not prepared to deal with the reality of an agreement.
Be them stupid or ignorant, it starts with the self policing of this industry and the demands for better and more knowledge right at the start. Too many cdl ho,Dems are clueless to what goes on, many don't even understand how the rules of the road work, but there they are being in the driver's seat.
I find it hard to believe that the claim of a drivers shortage is still being believed, even by people who have been here for ten years. It is one of the biggest lies we are told, next to anyone can be a truck driver.
This case is one that should be tossed. The person knew what was going on going into it. -
I am not really a fan of the lottery either. That's all I will say on it because it isn't the topic of conversation.Upinsmoke Thanks this.

But it’s been proven that lotto tickets sell better in low income areas than they do in wealthier areas. Maybe the government needs to place a minimum income level on the purchasing of lotto tickets so that the poor helpless people can no longer choose to spend their money on them.

If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it.
Anyone who does a lease purchase through a trucking company gets what they deserve.
It has been stated on here, other forums, truckstop diners and everywhere else, don’t do it no matter how good it sounds!!! -
It is relevant. Most lottery winners are dead broke with in a couple of years of winning.

No, our sentiments are "don't do it and if you do don't come crying to us when it doesn't work because we'll laugh." Government can not protect people from their own stupid decisions.Upinsmoke, 2CAN, InTooDeep and 1 other person Thank this.

I think a little pain is a great wake up call to do better.
But face it, half of all is are on the back side of the bell curve. Predatory lending is illegal is it not? A business near military bases was put out of business because it was shown they actively targeted new soldiers from poverty backgrounds to rent to own electronics.
I see both sides...but big money doesn't need to grow bigger on the backs of the poor and stupid
Did you know that the Jewish religion has a rule about debts being forgiven after 7 years? Something about the principal that it's unhealthy in a culture to keep somebody perpetually indebted. Of course the community would not loan to them again I suspect...Upinsmoke and bryan21384 Thank this. -
So, don't hold someone accountable forever.
However...
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
?
Don't give them multiple chances.Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
My take on the loan Erasure was first it's bad for a society to structure itself to create a debtor class.
Second, if you have to give up whatever is left after 7 years you're not likely to loan to someone who can't pay it back, or to loan for frivolous reasons.
Face it, the fleece operator deals are not necessary for the company or the driver. Anyone who can make it on one I think could make it using a real lease deal (thru a truck lease company not a transport company) after saving a down payment. I think it's predatory and avericious. I wouldn't say it's illegal but definitely immoral. And if they have crossed the lending legality line, screw em.Upinsmoke, Moosetek13 and bryan21384 Thank this.
