I suspect the OP was actually intended to read “when DO YOU have to use cruise control and manual shifting”.
My answer to that question would be on hilly terrain.Bean Jr., snowlauncher and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
In my manual and auto trucks I used the cruise -control about 99% of the time I was on the interstate highway. I would use cruise almost every place it was possible and safe to use it, not just at interstate highway speeds. It works as well to maintain 45 mph as 65-80 mph.Bean Jr. Thanks this.
