So I mistakenly drove past an open scale on I-80 in PA, and was stopped by a PA trooper. Surprisingly the trooper was very cordial and didn’t give me an earful, just told me I had missed the scale. I acknowledged that I did, apologized, and said that by the time I realized it was open I would have had to slam on the brakes to make the off ramp. He just took my license, cab card and insurance, and came back with a citation that reads “unlawful activities-drove past open scale” and a fine of $150. He told me it wouldn’t be any points on my license. The company I work for has very nice equipment and a great overall safety record, so I’m not sure if that worked in my favor or not. My question is, will this affect my CSA score?

As you don't have a CSA score, it will not.

As for being on your PSP report, well did the officer also do a CVSA inspection report?
If so it will be, if not it will not be.

If he did, there was no mention of it to me, and it doesn’t list it anywhere on the citation. This was my first encounter with a DOT officer so I’m not sure what would constitute an “inspection”

Only when an official inspection is done.
That's when those pesky CSA points find their way to you.
Even if it's a warning... those are even worse... because you can't challenge a warning.

You'd know if an inspection was done.
You'd have been given a copy.. had to sign off on the LEOs copy.. and then given thorough instructions on having your copy turned in and returned to the proper authorities in a given amount of time.

An inspection is separate from a citation.

    You should be good.

No, man. Just pay it and don't tell your company about it either. And move on. Don't do that s*** again.

He has to fill out a TVC once a year. While that won't be on CSA it probably will be on his mvr. Not telling the company is a good way to get fired.

Yeah they’ll say you’re fired and then 10 minutes later they’ll hire you back because they don’t have enough drivers !!!

Pay the fine. Check D/L record afterwhile, and report annual update accordingly. Conviction may or may not mention scale. Other choice is to get a Lawyer, probably get it changed to a equipment violation or some vague violation. Probably not worth spending the $$$$ for such a minor offense.PA just wants a little $$$$, It was your day.
