No, we would call people on the phone pretending to be a radio game show host or something.
We would spin the wheel to see how much money they would win.
A typewriter was the 'ticker' for the wheel.

Those were the cheap thrills back in the 70's.

Does anyone even remember what a typewriter was?

I've spoke to people that's been doing the cubical thing for years and years some enjoy it while others absolutely despise it.Not any different then the trucking life style.

    I escaped.

Prior to trucking I temp'ed to London Fog in what I recall as near Skyesville Md, a proper facility with a need for a office mail boy on a temp basis.

They actually assigned me to a small mail processing space with two other workers who were full time and had things to teach me about what I was getting into.

I lasted about 5 weeks. The drudgery of morning commute there, then the banal chitchat clocking in with a hundred others, some in suits... and then the routine blabblablab of this and that became wearisome.

I told the temp boss I aint spending my life in that cube farm. Or any in particular. (Never mind the much smaller cube inside a tractor trailer....) a month later I was in trucking school. The alternative was the sea. I was thinking over some offers a year later when I was running seacan...

I consider the entire United States my specialtiy in mountain work in any weather, especially winter weather... a joy. Compared to those cube farms.

Certain persons will rot in one or the other. Make sure you choose what you want before you invest your life into it.

My sleeper berth is my man cave. I enjoy my time to driving in the truck. I have a fully stocked refrigerator, DVD movies, NFL football on Verizon, and lots of tools to work on my truck and trailer as a "hobby" if I want to get out and get some exercise.
