That load would be alright if your heading to a better load and you need fuel money better to break even on that and add the cpm back in the back on your next 1

If it's going from Edison, you have to pay i95 tolls too.

The only way this type of load makes sense is if you have a commitment on a great paying load on the other end. A dedicated account for example where you are turning three loads a week. And even then everything has to be perfect or it ends up costing you. If you end up spending four hours getting loaded, and another four getting unloaded, it can add up to enough time that you lose your good load out of point B. basically, in theory, these cheap "backhaul" loads make sense. But in practice, 90 percent of the time they cost you.

NO BRAINER !!!! I would leave empty before taking it. It is somewhat difficult to drive away from a get me outta here or a go home load. You will learn very quickly to do just that every time once you see the benefits from leaving cheap freight on the dock.

$1 mi is just insulting to me. I would rather dead head out just on sheer principle, self respect and pride.

I suppose if I were desperate (Broke) and needed something to cover fuel to get me out of there.
I have been very fortunate to not be in that position.

I mean,.. I do flatbed,.. I know apples and oranges compared to Van,.. but I just did a load of Styrofoam insulation panels from Firestone out of Youngwood PA,.. went 212 mi to Chantilly, Va,.. paid $750. Weighed 8500 lbs. Lots and lots of good paying loads in and around NE area.

My main money making area is Oh, Pa, NJ, NY,.. and of course Chicago. Dead heading out of NJ isnt as bad as dead heading out certain parts of Fla.

Thats how I am when I'm home,.. and thats in Fla. So you can imagine how long my home time lasts,.. :D

I wont lie and say I have never hauled cheap. I took a 120 excavator out of Orlando to Ala for $1.48. But I had a decent paying $3 mi steel load coming out of Ala when I did.
