I'd love to be in that kind of position,.. unfortunately my business model involves me hustling from one load to the next until I clear enough money to come home.

I'm currently so far behind my projected income goals, bank account so low,.. I cant afford to stay home. I need to build my nest egg back up so I can stop vomiting every morning worried sick if anything else goes wrong.

You've definitely had your share this year, honestly hope you get a break now man.
I put my time in OTR, but as a born and raised farm kid I know I couldn't last.

Truck has been running fantastic so far.

I was so angry and upset with the shop after they said my truck was fixed and they put a cracked head back on and told me it was good to go.

They made things right. But it still cost me lost revenue and the frustration and stress having to run someone elses truck to keep money flowing.

Motor is running like new and better than ever. Never been this smooth and it sounds so good.

I'm only on my 3rd tank of fuel since getting truck back. I grew nervous on my first tank as I was approaching 1400 mi and was still above 1/4 tank fuel. I thought maybe the fuel gauge was sticking from sitting. No,.. I got an honest 6.47 mpg on that tank. 6.07 mpg on second tank (And that was in the mountains of WVa, then running I68 through Cumberland after picking up in Va). I just fueled up this afternoon,.. 6.52 mpg running Chicago and Indiana. Heading out to Commerce City, Co now. If anything,.. I should save upwards of $20k in fuel costs compared to last year.

Some of it is from not idling anymore with my new generator/APU set up. One of my better investments for this truck.

Only issue I'm having now is finding the little clearance light on the back of my Fontaine. One of the 3 LEDs is out,. its one solid bar thats riveted to the trailer. The lense has clips,. but the LEDs are not servicable. Have to replace the whole bar.

It's Jersey. With the tolls and loss of time figured in its not worth the money no matter how you look at it.

    Devils Advocate: Sure. Pull it.
(figures based on others past performance may not match future outcomes)

    ---- 5k lbs @ $500 --- 8hrs driving --- 480 miles

    Fuel in 2010 FL Ccadia driven fuel queen style @ 8.5 mpg = $141 @ 2.50/gal
    payment on 2010 rig = 45/day
    insurance @ 16k/yr = 44/day
    maintenance + tires @ .25/mi = $120 (light load... no adjustment made)

    To the house= $150..... oops, broker took %10... TTH = $100

It's a plus day. The truck got a little more paid off, the insurance got paid, and you cleared the equivalent of a working man's 36k salary for moving the truck. If you have 150k aspirations and would rather sit in Jersey, I can't help you. I'd call it a minor win. It's hard to defend, but if fuel, insurance, or payment numbers go lower... it's harder to hate too.

What tolls? No need to pay a toll on that route unless you want to.

36k a year? My lawn guy makes more than that. I certainly didn't spend a hundred and fifty grand and spend weeks away from my family in order to make less money than a guy with an old puck up truck and riding mower.

And this mentality right here is why brokers will ring your phone all day with ridiculously low rates. Always some idiot willing to work for dirt cheap. My god, border jumping fruit pickers down here make more than that.

Hard working tradesmen in the West don't...
I should go mow lawns in Fla, except there's the downside of having to live in Fla.... You guys have bugs, humidity, and storms that kill the house every 10 years.
