I have 2013 volvo with d13, 10 speed and on these new volvos they moved engine brake to steering column, next to wipers( on my 04 volvo it was on panel) so when I turn 1st 2nd or 3rd position on, I dont feel any difference and I'd say its kinda week, my 04 with ISX was much better. Had a mechanic hooked his laptop and he couldnt find any codes. Can anybody tell me if they had such a problem? Thank you in advance.

Isx is a 15 litre engine you can't compare it to a 13litre ... Also the isx is possibly the strongest jake around in North America

If you can't hear it or feel it, probably needs attention. I had a Cat in a Pete where the wire to the Jake was grounding out. Actually the previous driver told me to take it easy on right turns, that the Jake was cutting out. Idiot drove it like that and never had it fixed. I had a Cat mechanic look at it, and within 2 minutes, found the bare spot on the wire where it rubbed on the frame. Torque and turns moved the frame just enough to ground it out. A good wrap of electrical tape, and moving the wire a bit, fixed it forever. Not everything is a fault code, good mechanic with good eyes and common sense is a way better than a guy reading codes, and says "no codes, no problem"

If you are in the "3" position and you want more back pressure, pull the jake bar down and release quickly. This will drop a gear and increase the back pressure from the engine brake. The computer is determining how much "accuation" to apply in relation to the gear. Watch your RPMs when you do this.

Whatever happened to jakes on the dash; reach up and flip it to on 1, 2, or 3.
Oh how many times I came to a red lighf, take off and forget Jake is on, what an idiot.

The levels can be set to whatever % you want the Jake to hold back.

    I set mine to:
    (A) 80%
    (1) 40%
    (2) 80%
    (3) 100%

The 80 & 100 % ones are pretty strong on mine.

BTW .... If nobody explained it to you , the (A) position turns on Jake auto with cruise or with brake pedal actuation only...

If it works but its weak, I'd look into a mechanical issue... Mechanical issues won't necessarily throw a code... if the engine brake solenoid bolts are loose, or o-rings folded/cracked from the solenoid to the rocker shaft. Overhead could possibly require adjustment. If the engine brake oil circuit is leaking, then the E/B can work but will be weak depending on the leak of course.
