I was making sharp right turn. Trailer tire falls in a ditch and damages Stop Sign. Police officer gives me a Citation Ticket . Can a good Lawyer reduce charge? Is this on my record for next 3 years?

    austinmike Thanks this.

Thats a "talk to a lawyer" question. If its your only issue though as a general rule you can get out of the worst of the ticket. Expect to pay the whole fine plus for a new sign too though.

Thanks for reply. I don't have a problem with Fine. I'm more worried about the potential damage to CDL A License. Somebody else was telling me hitting a sign is better than hitting a pedestrian or another vehicle

Find a lawyer and Im sure they can hv it dismissed or knocked down to a parking ticket or such.If not take an online driver safety course and 3 pts will be deducted and 10% less on your ins.Give completion cert to comp.

How did you get caught so to speak?…. I may or may not have remodeled a few miscellaneous signs in the past…if I think I can get away with it, I stop and do my best to fix it or I just disappear and pretend like I didn’t notice.

Unfortunately the tire was stuck in ditch and tow truck had to pull it out.

    W923 and bryan21384 Thank this.

I think we've all done that at some point. Once, I swung 'er wide on a right turn, no curbs, but a stop sign in the middle I didn't see, man they go down fast when you hit them low.

It isn't the end of the world. You didn't hit a person or vehicle. There are drivers that have done far worse and their career goes on. What's most damaging to a CDL are rollovers, jack-knifes or accidents that require a tow or ambulance. Also moving violations like speeding, no seatbelt, those are killer. If they cited you for taking down a stop sign, it's only a bit of a money grab. What did they cite you for?

Plus stop signs are different from say a speed limit sign.A knocked down SL sign is not really a danger.A knocked down stop sign can kill someone. But its not the end of the world,im sure you can find any job youd like.
