Or fleet has a 13 cascadia with a 18l D60. It's our loaner truck, we invent problems so we can drive it for a few days. That thing will drag 46k of beer up either side of monteagle at 70 mph if you have the balls for the curves.
DD15 engine replaced with D60

Wow a 18L series 60 you say.......
Sounds like more truck stop lunch counter talk.Brettj3876 Thanks this. -
It came from a military recovery wrecker, not sure what year. The rebuilder told us that the same engine was used is some kind of Navy power barge, whatever you call those things with the front opening gate.
-
I called the shop, it isn't a d60 but it is a Detroit, he wasn't sure but the wrecker was 1988.
I really don't care about the details, I just love to drive it when I can.1dan Thanks this. -
So let me get this straight.........
It's a 13 cascadia with some kind of Detroit out of a military wrecker from 1988.? And the same engine was used to propel some navel barge.
It just gets better and better..........AModelCat and Peterbiltt Thank this. -
Never heard of a 18 liter Detroit, I have to ask them tomorrow about it.
snowwy Thanks this. -
2010 cascadia in my opinion isnt worth spending that much money, just find yourself a glider for 40k
1dan Thanks this. -
For this price i will get a 2012 columbia with 600.000 miles on it which is not much better than my truck right now. The good ones are around $100k with low miles and just a few years.
-
Now does it matter what year the donor engine it was even if it was remanufactured by the dealer cause im would like a pre 2000 one for ELD exemption ?
-
I think you're just asking for more worms installing an older engine on a newer truck. And i think you'd still have to run eld because of truck year. Another can of worms. But i could be wrong.
You've got all the emissions devices. A different computer system. Whatever else electronic.
You'd be better off just buying an older truck. And fixing it up. Or just fixing up what you've already got. You're worried about the stories. Yet, how many miles did you original engine go already? Before it was overhauled and gone bad.Last edited: May 4, 2018
