It will only get worse. Those dedicated runs drain the life and spirit out of people.
Some people are fine with that, but some of us can't deal with the same routine every day as life slips by.
Dedicated runs.....

Thank you........I think....It is so boring. Even being a new driver l wish I could go another way.
It has its advantages, but I am already thinking of a new career, even though I like driving.

I really liked running all over and doing west coast runs and a few Pacific Northwest runs.
Look at some different companies and consider mixing it up where every week is different.
Quest Global loves husband/wife teams and they specialize in west coast/east coast turns. Nice trucks also. They're based in Georgia.
Danny Herman Trucking in Mountain City,TN runs west all the time and has a couple of facilities in Southern California. They don't run Northeast which is a bug plus. You'll see the Texas border towns often.
MC VanKampen runs west all the time and don't run Northeast.
Check the websites of those 3 and see what you think. -
I read where Abilene Motor Express recently got some contracts hauling produce out of California and back to the east coast. Pretty good outfit and they're based in Richmond,VA. Much of that produce will go to the Northeast though.

We are with a good company.
We live in Crossville, TN so moving out from Knoxville or Nashville are a probability. Our company is here, makes it nice. Decent company. We do get paid paid for all miles.
Thank you for your suggestions.

You don't have to relocate to drive for those companies I listed. Just do whatever you can tolerate; maybe you'll eventually get used to it.
@Eowyn - I'm from Robertson County,TN
We moved to Las Vegas/Henderson not too long ago. We're about a 10 minute drive from the Las Vegas strip. I'm not a gambler, so doesn't mean much to me; I just like the weather in Southern Nevada. She rode with me a few times when I'd get a good long run when we lived in Tennessee.Last edited: Apr 22, 2017
Eowyn Thanks this. -
I do feel it to be wrong to leave this company for no other reason than it doesn't have the runs I want. What are your thoughts about that Chinatown?

I do love TN. I am not original from here, but I love it.

Companies don't even remember a drivers name after a few days. Your decision shouldn't be about the company; it should be about the wefare of you and your husband and the relationship with each other.
Companies act like they're your friend and they really cherish you, but when it gets right down to it, they'll fire you and shove you out the door without giving it a second thought.LoneCowboy, FullMetalJacket and Boattlebot Thank this. -
Yes, TN is nice and Crossville is really a good location to live. Lots of retirees from the "yankee" auto plants move to there because it's such a nice affordable area.
