No it is not. Can’t get out of here fast enough. This Black Hole has sucked the life from me way too many times
Cam Roberts Thanks this. -
Oh. That’s being a little too strict to have discussion about something like that imo. But is what it is
-
I still see older trucks running around California, they don’t have any problem getting tags.
How are they doing it? -
I was just asking dont plan on doing it i decided to rebuild my it be cheaper
-
Check with Diesel Laptops. I think may be a cheaper option instead of buying from dealer.

Some just don't give a F.
Some are exempt until like 2022 cause single owner or something like that.
I've seen more than a few retro fits.
Here's the thing though, and there's really no way around it.
Knock on door. Knock knock.
Who is it?
EPA.
EPA who?
You know who, open the F door.
"Sir we've noticed that you never, ever, purchase any DEF for your 2015 truck."
" Umm, buh, buh, jus, umm..........................................."
" Sir can you elaborate on how that is possible?"
" Umm, buh, buh, jus, ummm......................................."
" Sir can we see your truck please?"
" Ummm, buh,buh, jus, ummm....................................."
" Sir here's your $10,000 fine. And your order to fix your truck."
"Ummmm, buh,buh,jus,ummmmm...................................."
"Sir we might be able to work with you on a reduction of the fine, if you could show us the shop that did this."
" Earl's truck repair. Down there on the corner."
And you can bet that's just how it's gonna go.BoostedTeg Thanks this. -
Couple off years ago on Hank's truck forum a p&d driver was pulled over and all related to emissions was checked.
Engine build year,exhaust........all.
He was NOT in Cali. -
Here's a scenario.
In California driver gets pulled over from out of state. He has no emissions junk on truck. Officer calls CARB. Officer starts writing as he waits for CARB.
Driver of truck agrees to sniff test and smiles. Truck passes sniff test. (Which I believe is 30g carbon output per hour at idle)? The officer looks stumped. The CARB idiot is plain mad as a hornet. Now what?
The moral of this is diesel can be made clean now without all the crap they say is needed. -
Its easy to clean up the particulates. The issue is NOx. That was the whole point of EGR. Bring combustion temperatures down by introducing nitrogen from the burnt exhaust into the cylinders prevented NOx from forming. Problem in that is when you cool your combustion you create more particulates. So along came the DOC/DPF system to clean those up. Now with SCR and AMOx catalysts added they can reduce (and hopefully eliminate) the need for EGR.Oldironfan Thanks this.
