DEF, SCR, DOC, DPF.... and all that crap... I have been in Fontata, CA for 18 days now while technicians at Freightliner are trying to fix truck problem. It seems to be all aftermath system related. They replaced SCR box, DPF, ran a bunch of tests... said truck was fixed last week, I ran 900 miles in CA and went back to their shop with same problem again... Asked them to check DEF system cause I hadn't pumped DEF for the last 1546 miles and still have completely full DEF tank... Young technician hooked truck to computer and said it will show everything that is wrong... Really? He said pump is working but it stopped once truck got problem... Anyway, now they are replacing all 6 injectors, the Delta-P sensor and who knows what else... And all these expensive parts and very time consuming repairs to comply with EPA...
The truck I drive is a Cascadia 2012. Company maintenance person said that full DEF tank is good for 5000 miles. If so, each green square is good for 1250 miles. And all drivers in this company lose one square after about 1000 to 1500 miles. So, after running 1546 miles, I should have 3 green squares... but instead, I had 4. That was a sign of a problem...
Rocks, what engine are you running? Maybe I'm wrong, but sure sounds like a "trial & error" parts changing, rather than the tech knowing any particular part is defective. (all injectors?) If he is replacing the Delta-P, chances are also great that he is not also looking into related tubes, passageways, and other exhaust gas items to check for soot blockage or restrictions. There's a good thread on this somewhere on the forum, have to find it first, and will post a link if/when I do. Sorry for the mess you're going thru...
That's funny cause I was truck shopping yesterday and the salesman at Freightshaker said when and if anything weather seen or not wrong with the truck it will send a satelite message to Fliner and they will message you on your cell to tell you whats wrong and what needs to be done and also have the nearest FL Dealership ready for you when you get there if needed to be repaired immediatly. So am I reading this right saying he lied to me??? Cause I will call him out on it. HATE not dislike LIERS and Thieves!!!
And I totally agree with you... I asked young technician to check DEF tank, lines and all.... It was useless... all they know is what computer shows and will stick to that. They don't like to see drivers in the shop area and it's always hard to find "my" technician when I sneak in there... Problem is, I am afraid of breaking down again in the middle of nowhere if they can't fix what is really causing the problem.... I talked to my company maintenance person about it but he is more inclined to agree with whatever Freightliner tells him.
I don't know if all Freightliner shops are like that. But THIS one here in FONTANA, CA is TERRIBLE! Check out the thread "Where are You" and you can follow my "saga" at Freightliner here since the beginning when I arrived there on Oct/24...
OK, I was thinking you may have been running a Cummins ISX. Anyhow, regardless, some "principles" remain the same. Check out Rawze's thread, tho it's specific to the ISX, much of the info crosses DD-ISX boundaries. Rawze also has some good videos on YouTube, for "visuals" to the troubleshooting process.
