We are an educated, decent couple from Vermont with spotless driving records and no criminal history. I drove TT from 1980-1981 (pre-CDL) and graduated the MTA tractor trailer school in 1988. My wife is GREEN. We are living in a motel and cant find work. Between us we have $800 and running out quick. Can anyone reccomend a company that trains and keeps a couple together with a short training peroid. I can always hone her skills on the road since I do have experience. A company that offers auto transmissions would be preferred for her. I am not looking for TT school reccomendations, but trucking companies that have their own schools and do their own testing, then put you to work.
Despirate couple needs help!

There are no companies that are going to train the two of you at the same time, together, or let you do the training for her. In fact, unless you have more recent experience than what you mentioned, there isn't a company that is going to do anything except put you right into a training program and start from the beginning. If your last experience was 19 years ago, in 88, then you are considered at the basic starting point, not as any kind of experienced driver.
You are also not in a really rich part of the country for this either, though there are some companies that run up that way. You have some local carrier that speciialize in the Northeast, but that isn;t a great place for finding carrier that will meet what you are asking about.
My best suggestion right now would be for you to find a program for yourself, get moving and start making some kind of income. Then, you will have the breathing room to look around and find something that may accomodate both of your needs. -
If you are unemployed you could try to get WIA financing for some sort of training. Do some research online and contact your local One-Stop Career Center.

I have heard that snider will train couples togeather only if they plan on driving team.
WIA program will help the wife for school funding but if you have a cdl still you will have to go the company school.
Wia will not help people out if they have a cdl.
I agree that if you have no recent exp that you will have to start over. The laws have changed alot since the 80's Heck they even changed from the 90's there are different backing manuvers too -
you could get a job driving locally (Class B) Concrete/cement or construction trucks if you can demonstrate skills!!
