First of all, didn’t mean to. I had a slight uphill dock that I bounced off of twice trying to get the trailer against the dock. The third time I gave it a little extra gas to hold it against the dock and the drive tires made a nice screaching sound. On the bright side, I pulled the truck break and was flush against the dock Tell me, I’m not the lone ranger here and that some of you vets have done this before. More importantly, any advice on uphill docks to not do it again?
<<<<<<——- this vet has NEVER done it. But I own my equipment, so I’m extremely easy on it. Was you on a…… what you call those transmissions…… “Auto” I think is the word….
I couldn't bump a dock if my life depended on it. This discussion though came up the other day. Wonder how many thrust washers hit the oil pan while slipping a clutch against a dock. Nothing against @Nahbrown either. I'm sure you're doing better than the majority. On your own yet?
Always fun when transmissions go into clutch protect mode and take off. Or Detroit’s DT12 refusing to acknowledge the brake pedal if you’re spinning on uneven gravel
I question your description of "a little gas" and "tires made a nice screaching sound". You can feather the brake to keep from going backward while still pushing a bit to not have whatever transmission you have completely cut out. If it's an auto (I'm assuming yes) does it move with no throttle? Word of caution. The internet isn't a private place, so I hope your boss doesn't know your online identity. This is an overall dumb thing to have done. Take it easy.
I call those types of transmissions “select-O-matics” like the old cars that had the push button selectors for the transmissions
they call it bumping a dock for a reason lol i was never good at it either.. luckily flatbed doesnt hit to many docks
