Noticed on My 2014 T680 the drain plug is leaking(The drain plug at the very bottom). I can honestly say i don't know how long its been leaking but its a small one maybe a drip every now and then. First question is what should the torque be on them? I tried to tighten but seems its just gonna spin and dont wanna rip it out.. If a shop over tighten this how would i go about fixing this without replacing the whole differential?
Thank you

IIRC its just a pipe plug in the bottom of most diffs. If its tight and leaking, you'll have to pull it out and put some teflon tape or thread sealant on it. If you don't want to drain all the oil, buy a new plug and do a quick swap.
Just double check its not leaking out between the carrier and housing, dripping down onto the plug (the plug being the lowest point).Heavyd, spsauerland and Goodysnap Thank this. -
If its loose, the plug (if its pipe thread) will be tapered and will tighten in there. Just use some common sense, if it looks like its threading into the housing (below flush) and not tighening, stop and access.

If the square is stripped, MIG weld a nut to the plug to get it out.
AModelCat and spsauerland Thank this.
