Hi, apologizes if this is in the wrong section or an commonly asked question.
Do CDL hazmat companies even consider hiring driver with expunged criminal records and also already have Hazmat endorsements?

It depends. Some might want to run a background check but that shouldn’t be a huge impediment, especially if you already have the endorsement.
born&raisedintheusa, Chinatown and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
It depends on:
- Where you live
- How much/what type(s) of experience you already have (if any)
- The freight market (or the lack thereof) in your area
- The carrier(s) in question -- & their hiring criteria & methods
- The type(s) of freight you are considering

There are many companies that do not do a criminal background check on truckers even for HAZMAT
wis bang Thanks this. -
All companies do some sort of background check, 3,5,7 and 10 year seem the most common. Small O/O companies might just do MVR check to hire you. The criminal background check is to protect the company from liability and lawsuits.

If your record is clean enough to pass the BG for HAZMAT you shouldn't have any problems with an employer. Also, if a record is expunged you don't have to tell them and they have no way of finding since it's essentially erased.

We had a guy once get approved, put in 2 weeks at his current employer then corporate found an expunged marijuana conviction when the guy was a teenager from 20-30 years ago. Corporate declined his job offer. This was at a big LTL carrier.
Even though it was expunged, it was still uncovered. The background checks they did were some of the most invasive I've ever seen.
