how yall doing out there? I for the life of me can't find direct customers, or even dedicated brokers to work with. Leaving me to haul the scrapes off the loadboards. Barf! So wife and i are starting a brokerage. She just sits at home anyways. Hoping this will one day lead to some direct freight.

A lot of shippers will not work with one truck companies and a lot of shippers will work with one truck carriers. You just have to figure out which ones will work with the small carriers.

IME with flatbed, Old Castle will work with small carriers to haul their blocks to Lowes /HD. But, they are cheap. Crane companies are easy to go direct with to haul counter weights and misc., parts. Paving companies might use you, if you have the equipment. Equipment rental companies will go direct with you. With lumber, you need to look for places that buy truckloads of lumber like pallet manufacturers or pressure treatment places. And, if you want to pull someone else's trailer big scrap yards like omnisource will work with you.

    Good luck

With the brokerage we can get contacts from shippers. Direct customers. We'll broker out the loads I (the carrier) dont want or am not in the area to take

This usually takes years.... Also when you haul directly, companies pay 30 to 45 days after they receive your invoice, some even longer because they are slow in paying their Bill's. Also as someone mentioned, some companies will not do business directly with one truck

Even awesome brokers can pay 30-45 days.

A factor company will factor direct to company invoices.
