The vast majority of us run all 48 states and Canada. Some drivers do run regional and dedicated runs, but it's not the norm. If they approach you and ask if you want to run regionally, you can simply turn it down and stay OTR, no problem.
That said, my experience is they like to keep drivers within a reasonable distance from their home. So chances are the majority of your runs will be in the midwest and along the east coast. I'm only speculating though, and you will certainly go everywhere.
I've been to all 48 states at least twice in the 2 years I've been with Prime, although they have yet to send me into Canada.basser Thanks this. -
I drive for Prime. I've driven in all 48 states in all conditions at all times of year. I've made solo runs from Yakima, WA to Jacksonville, FL. Savannah, GA to somewhere up in Maine. Short, long, everything in between. When I was training my weekly schedule was LA->East coast->LA. The truck stopped moving for fuel and that was about it.
I've been told it's easy to get on the Western regional circuit. I have no experience with it but my brother, also a Prime driver, ran the 9 western states exclusively. -
Oh, and Canada. I've been to Canada more times than I care to count. Here's a free tip if have to deliver somewhere in Canada. Whatever you do, don't miss your turn. Just don't.
