A friend who worked in a tire shop, he was seriously injured when the tire in the cage exploded and the cage didn't hold it. He was the only one working at night - this happened at 7 pm, the shop owner came in at 10 am to do payroll and found him in a pool of blood.
A few years later I was having a tire changed, the tire jockey got the tire on the rim, but the tire was defective and exploded. I was 15 feet away and was hit by rubbed, the guy standing next to it was really messed up.
One reason why I don't want any of my drivers to fix a tire is because of what happened in these two incidents.
I do not mind paying but if the driver insists on repairing it themselves, they have issues with me which means they will get a call from safety girl who will take that driver off the road until it is fixed.
