Been a while since I have trolled on here but betting not a lot has changed.

Best advice is to wait (based on your own question you have a lot to learn in a business that isn't very forgiving), read and ask questions. Ignore the rude remarks or better yet get into the spirt of the banter and not take it personally. If you are serious, you will not only learn answers to questions you don't know to ask yet but may make a friend or two that have done exactly what you are thinking about and can help you out.
