So this is a weird one.
I've been off for the weekend (this is my weekend) and I drink on my day off.
I just found out I'm supposed to go in for an alcohol test tomorrow morning. I'm about three bourbons in. Should I call in sick?

If all you had was 3 you will be fine , but DO NOT have another!

I don't see how they can punish me for drinking on my day off if I'm not intoxicated before going to work. -
They gave you notice of a test for tomorrow morning?
Wow!
That gives you plenty of time.
My usual notice is when I log on-duty to do a pre-trip and I get a call 5 minutes later telling me where to go for the test.
And I have 30-60 minutes to get there or I fail.
If you call in sick to avoid the test it will be considered as a refusal to take the test.
And we all know what happens if you refuse to be tested.
A word of advice...
Never answer a phone call (or a text, or anything like that) from your employer on a day off.
Some of them pull that crap to test you during your home time, which is not fair at all - in any way.nikmirbre, tscottme, Aamcotrans and 6 others Thank this. -
Geekonthestreet and Bean Jr. Thank this.

If any employer did that to me, I would make them pay (and I don't mean money)
Harassing you at home for drug tests is crossing a line.
What I would do is take the test just to stay out of trouble, but then be deliberately late for an appointment at one of their key customers. I would phone them and tell them exactly what I was doing, that since they disrespected me, I was going to disrespect their business.
Actually, I would probably just collect my last paycheck and immediately turn in my keys.Last edited: Mar 30, 2022

2. You have to be sober, by law, 12 hours before driving. If you are you have nothing to worry about, if your not, well.. too bad.‘Olhand, brian991219, tscottme and 2 others Thank this.
