DOT Physical Eye Exam Issue

I signed up for CDL School starting on Nov 7 and went yesterday to get my DOT physical done so I can get my permit before school. I did the Snellen eye test and then finished the physical and the NP asked me to go back to the Snellen test where apparently, I failed with my left eye by missing two letters on the qualifying line. I passed the right eye and total vision, but she said she had to fail me and submit the physical. I left and went for an eye exam and got a new eyeglass prescription that will be in before school. My question is, will that "failed" physical hurt me moving forward? I explained the situation to the class coordinator, and he didn't seem concerned. Just told me to retake the physical and get my permit before class. Anyone ever had this happen and has to deal with future consequences? Thanks in advance.

No one cares if you failed...

Also remember that after school your new company will make pass another one, if you fail that one they will send you home

I don't see a problem since you've had the problem solved with new eyeglasses.

 

Hold those horses! If you failed a physical it is possible the ME transmitted that failure into the system. It's OK to do it again after getting the eyesight fixed, just MAKE SURE you notate on the 2nd physical that the 1st one happened. Over the last several years I have seen where the FMCSA tossed all physicals because they accused the driver of doctor shopping! Before you make a reply telling me I am full of 30-weight oil READ MY COMMENT again!

How's your memory?? Remember this... every test I take it's the same chart... I remember defpotec and felopzd... and B AM .. you got 20/20

 

She did say she was transmitting it. That is what concerned me. I now know to just memorize the #### thing. I didn't realize I had an issue with my left eye.

1 time test was different than this chart. I asked to use bathroom, took picture of chart, and memorized it 15 minutes before exam. Sounds like a b.s. story, but i, swear... use your street smarts. Hopefully you get the chart I sent. You don't have to memorize the whole chart... just 2 or 3 lines... good luck
