They're not lawyers and it's not their job to inform you of the law. People like you without responsibility are why products have 50 warning labels on them. Professional driver closed course.

It's just a huge cash cow for Virginia. When the DOT that usually hangs down at US50+US15,get bored, they wander up there and write a few tickets.I've been through there a hundred times over the years, just never got stopped.Always had a Virginia blanket oversize, overlength permit, don't know if that would have flown or not.You can usually go through at night without being bothered. The odd thing is you can permit big loads through there, but you can't go through there(legally)over 65'.Sorry for your Pops ticket, hate to see anyone fork over unnecessary revenue to Va.

That last link you posted has a map that tells all the restricted routes. It's been years since I've been on 15,but if you had a customer along 15,you could buy a permit. It was around $180 a year back in the late 90's.

Yeap US 15 in that area has been restricted for a long long time.I have ran it in the past and I was well over 65' and never ticketed but I knew ahead of time the risk I was taking. It is marked and its the drivers job to establish their route not the dispatchers.
