Not sure if it qualifies but the Border Patrol check point north of Laredo. Long story short the correct answer to "Do you have any fire arms to declare" the answer correct is "No, I do not". And in all honesty my complaint with them is their failure to know and enforce the laws concerning side arms. I would have said the MCCP that patrolled Hwy 84 towards Waycross, Ga but that was personal and last I heard he had retired.
Best? Toss up between Mo, In, and Tn but I'm probably treated different at most Tn scales since I live here and most of the shirts I wear make people aware that fact.

I 25 north going into Wyoming, Had a run in with an officer, who figured I needed to jump when he said. I politely told him I did not work for him, nor will I take orders. Suggestions, requests and such yes, orders not at all.
Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
In the interest of fairness and to show the quality of many enforcement officers.
This did not happen to me but a close friend. He had been going through some tough times and was traveling back from Texas to Mississippi with his wife and two small children. His truck broke down that night in Louisiana and he had no money for repairs. He called a relative in Mississippi who was on his way to help out. A Louisiana MCE Trooper stopped to offer assistance and he told the Trooper he had help coming from MS. The Trooper left only to return about an hour later with hamburgers, fries and drinks. Throughout the night the Trooper would return occasionally to check on them and bring drinks.
Best regards.Steinbrenner, Onetruckpony, Tazz and 1 other person Thank this. -
I never have problems at the scale, it was just him, probably having a bad day and I was next in line. The part that really got me though was saying my load was unsecure.

For me CT,NY and PA are the bad ones. Have never had a DOT cop with a good attitude in those states. Just the opposite in VT and NH have allways bin good.
-
Worst is a draw between Marion (West Memphis) and the Raccoon DOT in the PA rest areas.
Best was in Kentucky, Walton scales. -
MN....
I used to work for them.
As a student worker, I had a great job working in the design shop and actually doing some road design work. I would have loved to have stayed in that position.
"thinking" I was taking the right route and just getting hired into the system, I got a job in the Metro area as a maintenance worker driving snow plow in the winter and other things when it wasn't snowing. I wasn't ready for the politics of that union or the state work force. I saw first hand how my (our) tax dollars are wasted.
Mn state pooper gave me a "following too close" ticket when some idiot pulled in front of me to get onto an exit he missed and hit his brakes on me. Trooper didn't like it when I locked up my empty flat brakes. (this was in the early 90's).
I fought it in court and won. Got the trooper to admit in court he witnessed the car cut me off. Judge was less than happy with him. -
Best I can recall, I've had interactions with DOT officers in the following states in the last five years (when I returned to trucking):
SC, KY, NY, OH, MD, WY, PA, AZ.
No problems. SC was actually the most business-like. KY, NY and PA were actually downright friendly. The KY guys were funny, too.
But I've never had a problem with the DOT. -
Ive had both good and bad experiences at the same exact coop in Florida on different occasions with different bears. One was a total Barney Fife, the other was like your grandpa giving advise so I guess it all equals out.
Ive had the same experience in Alaska. Same coop, different bears different occasions, good cop bad cop.
There are 2 coops in the Yukon on the Alaska highway and I get pulled in every time for temporary registrations and those bears are hands down the most friendly folks Ive ever dealth with, every single time, and I am talking like 6 to 8 scalemasters.
To me it boils down to the location and the dominate political climate.
Sheethole states like Ny, Il, Ca and its quite possible there will be a negative experience. In the less populated areas its always been a possitive experience. Montana is a good example and I should make mention of them as Ive dealt with at last 3 Mt bears recently and all were beyond cordial with no issues. -
Although I've never had a problem, best and worst attitudes would be
WORST- Maryland, Indiana
BEST- Kentucky, North Carolina
