I wish when I first got my CDL, I knew that you should hire a lawyer and fight every ticket even if your guilty. I never realized how cheap and affordable lawyers are for DOT tickets.

I'm curious, do any of y'all use the services that you see at the truck stops? Are they worth it? I primarily drive local so I just use a local lawyer but I'm curious if using those services are worthwhile.

One thing I like to do now is keep my truck super clean, on Saturdays I spend an hour and a half washing my truck and trailer and getting my rims nice and shiny. I figure anything I can do to reduce the chance of getting pulled over.

Any other tips and advice y'all got to share?

We fight ALL our tickets. We don't use a lawyer and I've been very successful fighting them. Even when we're guilty I can usually get the fines cut in half. I good place to find case law is the Legal Information Institute for USA or if your charges are in Canada click here. Good luck!

RoadLaw (in Oklahoma City) (nation-wide though) really helped me out with a speeding ticket last year. I've been a member since.

In addition to this, you may want to also be sure that the INSIDE of your truck is also super clean and neat. This also helps you with much better operation and efficiency as it does to impress inspectors during inspections.

God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.!

You're talking about TVC? Yeah, they want you to pay them to plead guilty for you. You can do that yourself and save money. Call the courthouse (the number will be on the citation), talk with either the clerk or the judge and they will reduce the charge for you the same way they will for TVC.

Knock on wood,.. but I havent had any problems while out OTR. I've been having a mid life crisis when it comes to hotrods since I was 16. I have used local lawyers often and they work well. Expensive,.. dont play if you cant pay.

    Roadlaw and Interstate Truckers.

Roadlaw doesn't work everywhere in america. And they don't return your phone calls either if they can't find a lawyer to take your case. Interstate handled my last ticket. THAT ticket was at the last courthouse in northern part of the most population zone in utah.

i could see some hicktown in the sticks. But i wouldn't think the populated zone would be a problem.

To the OP: here's the deal...........if you ARE guilty; and let's face it..........we can and DO get busted on legitimate things......pay the #### ticket and be on your way. If NOT guilty; then fight it 'til the bitter end.

The game has rules; we play the game and work with the rules. Bend them, massage them, lobby for them to be changed.........but if ya do get busted just man up. By all means call the clerk, talk to counsel, try to get the fine reduced..........but don't ever "pretend" not to be guilty when you KNOW you are.
