    Quote from the Abbotsford News:

"Const. Jody Thomas with the Abbotsford Police Department said a total of five vehicles were involved in the crash, and there were only minor injuries to the occupants."

What is it with thinking big trucks are slow?

It's an illusion, you ever see a plane on final approach? It looks like it's flying slow but it's actually going 200mph. Even trains, from some distance they look slow but zoom past you doing 60mph. Trucks are the same thing, the size makes it look like we are going slow even when we are not.

Why that truck go out of control like that and hook hard left after impact. Pickup truck broke ball joint on tie rod end on semi most likely?

This is why I tend to drop down below the speed limit in congested areas when loaded. Had that driver done the same, he could have easily stopped for that light and the accident would never have happened. Would be interesting to see who got cited. And who wins the court battle that will follow. IMO, both the trucker and the pickup driver share the blame on that one. But a court would most likely lay it all on the trucker for running the light.

i saw at least 3 things and as a result, both may be at fault for all the other damges.

    1) the light was yellow

    2) the pick up truck wanted to beat the red light, and made that turn

    3) the big rig ALSO SAW the yellow light and made NO attempt to slow dow, did he think he was going to beat that light.??

    4) what jerkwad (professional..??) truck driver, goes "fast" in an area where there are redlights and high volumes of traffic??

The light was yellow when the big truck entered the plane of the intersection, he did not run the light. The fault is 100% on the pickup truck who did not yield the right of way.
