The camera had nothing to do with it. It only confirmed that the driver was negligent and should never be allowed to get behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle ever! The fact that you would somehow blame the camera for this drivers actions makes me wonder what kind of driver you are!

Not to mention his conduct as whole (plus a few other bad actors) puts our profession in a very negative light and drags our reputation into the mud!Arctic_fox and drvrtech77 Thank this.

I think that driver did that on purpose because he wanted to avoid additional tolls by going to the next exit and then getting back on,incurring another toll.
Anyway you look at it, it was extremely stupid and it had fatal consequences.Last edited: Sep 12, 2025

A dumb move is leaving your wallet at the truck stop. It's not killing 3 people on a highway by sitting sideways across the flow of traffic. "Oh I didn't know sitting crossways to traffic with a vehicle would cause any harm." He caused people to die with his reckless behavior, he gets what he gets. 45 years in prison is only 15 years punishment for EACH life he ended. Drunk drivers don't INTEND to hurt anyone. WTH?drvrtech77 Thanks this.

Why hold someone's feet to the fire for a driver running into a truck on the shoulder? According to your own words that driver didn't wake up that day and decide to cause the crash? I mean that's the standard you want to use, why aren't you using it? How is letting reckless behavior of people receive lighter punishment helping anyone but the reckless drivers? Of all people to consider above the victims, other drivers on the road why go easy on that reckless driver? Why not eliminate all penalties and REALLY help the bad drivers? Someone ended 3 lives, that someone had a history of bad behavior, and he ignored oncoming traffic, traffic on his side of the highway, AND a no U-turn sign using no English words. The victims got a death penalty and their families all got a life sentence for this drivers behavior. Maybe they should be the ones getting a lighter sentence, not the driver causing all of this? Why can't you see that going soft on those being reckless ruins lives, families, and society? Make America Safer for Reckless Drivers? That will make society so much better, somehow.drvrtech77 Thanks this.

How much more intent do you need? Let’s see you intend to make a U-turn. That’s obviously illegal in the middle of the day on a busy turnpike yeah, I’d say you intend to kill somebody. It’s pretty cut and dry… Why they charge him with negligent homicide because it was negligent and every sense of the wordtscottme Thanks this.

Some people have tribal loyalty and not objective standards. In this case the tribe is truck drivers. And the people with tribal loyalty want truck drivers to protect other truck drivers, BECAUSE they are truck drivers. Other people think about society and want people and behaviors that hurt society to be punished severely enough it reduces the number of people causing that harm. The worst run societies decide things by tribal loyalty considerations. "If my side did something, then it should receive as light a punishment as possible. If your side did something it should receive harsh punishment." Our Third World future will be dirty, dangerous, and difficult.hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.
