If you do drop and hook, could you tell me:

    a) How much, percentage-wise, do you get?

    b) Out of that percentage, how much, if any, is on an appointment basis?

    c) If you get alot of drop and hook, could you tell me the name of your company please? (we can go to PM if you like)

I have about a 50/50 mix with my carrier. I think the most trailers I have ever had in a day was 6. Of course I was basically doing local work loading trailers then driving them to the terminal, grabbing an empty then going back to the shipper for another load. About 20 miles each way and By the way I do get paid for each drop I do each hook I do and every dock I bump. This accessorial pay has padded my paychecks for over 6.5 years so far.

Normally I will swap trailers every other day or so and the above is not representative of my "normal routine."

P.S. New Drivers coming into Eastern Freightways (North Brunswick NJ) DO NOT get this pay anymore. The company revised their pay package and are offering more per mile to new hires than the veteran drivers who get paid for every stop, drop, hook, etc. For 6 months verifiable experience the starting pay is between .38 to .40 cpm.

Mike's work is mostly drop and hook now. He's paid for all miles driven as well as every trailer switch. If he does have to wait for anything, he's paid by the hour for that.
