I have dual Fire stick antenna with a split cable I purchased as a package from Rightchannel. I can tune each antenna to around .75 to 1.1 but when I hook up both my SW meter goes to 3. What gives?

    Need more info...
are you useing rg59 75ohm coax?
Rg8 or rg58 will not work for a dual configuration.

Are you useing a 50ohm dummy load on one side to set swr?
ex. connect dummy load to right side coax, set swr on the left side antenna. Then switch... connect dummy load to left side coax, set right side antenna.

Use Antenna analyzer. Tune both simultaneously. Much easier that way. You cut them too short. Time to start over.

Easier? Sure, if you have access to one, or the means to purchase one, and the ability to use and undrrstand one.
While Ill agree, an AA is a very handy weapon to have in your arsenal, if you are building your own antennas, expierimenting with different antenna configurations, etc... but it isnt a cost effective tool for the avg cb user/trk driver who is using trk stop gear, and simply wants a 'plug n play' set up. (Note: not bashing trk stop gear, or anyone who uses it)
I find a field strength meter , which no one seems to use anymore, a handy companion to a reliable swr meter, for the avg cb'er to use setting up a mobile antenna. And much more cost effective as well. Jmo

Let me ask you this, how much would a person pay for a good SWR meter?

I haven't bought one in 30 years, crap close to 40 outside of the used classic ones like Birds and Diawa.

Probably $15 up to $150 new.
You can pick one up at a trk stop for $15-20, maybe even less. Some of the newer mfj's, diawas, comets etc will go for $100 +

SWR meters are completely useless for an antenna that's resonant at a frequency outside the capability of the persons radio.. most radio shops will check it for free with an analyzer hoping to make a sale
