Dual operating authority

    Applying for MC and DOT is pointless until you’re ready to go on your own. It will probably cause more problems. Here’s a piece of advice. Start a new company for your authority. When you bind insurance coverage you can still stay leased where you are, and only terminate that after the 3 week wait. This will also allow you to add and remove trucks you own from insurance as you wish.

    I know a couple of guys that were leased on to a company for their main haul. They had their own insurance and also had their own authority and just changed signs on the other end. I am not sure about the legalities of this, but it is what the company they were leased to wanted them to do.
