Dum dums

I think the truck is a Mack. Impressive, a product named "Dum-Dums" stands the test of time, but not the oldest candy. Know what is? Good and Plenty., I read. I used to haul out( or in, I forget) of the Tootsie Roll factory in Chicago. They make 64 MILLION Tootsie Rolls, EVERY DAY!!! 3 shifts a day, 7 days a week, that's a lot of freakin' Tootsie Rolls. In the breakroom, they had bins of "irregular" ones, you could fill your pockets. The best breakroom ever? Entenmanns, natch.

The crazy part about all of this inflation & shrinkflation bs is just that. Little Debbies here 40 years ago about a buck a box. Then they held it at $1.25 forever when everyone else was griping about sugar prices.

Today about $2.80 a box. A 150% increase over 40 years. They should be out of business by Kraft Heinz logic.......

 

I still buy nutty bars to this day. When I had my union bread job, some of the deliveries were to storage units, and the vendor would pick it up and take it to the store. Well, at one place, a Little Debbie vendor was in the unit next to the bread guy, and we ran into each other all the time. I had plenty of treats after that. I delivered to a pizza maker in Kentucky once, same thing, breakroom from your dreams. All the pizza you could eat. Trucking wasn't all bad.
