Dynasys look like a pretty solid APU

Odd mine not like thatvat all

So far I love my Dynasys. My ONLY complaint is that I have a Volvo 780 and to change the oil you have to remove the skirt. I do not like doing that. If the Dynasys was mounted with a 1/4 turn towards the front of the truck you could access the unit by simply opening up the step. I do not see any reason why it can't be mounted that way.

The truck I'm driving has one and it's still up in the air. The 30 amp fuse connection that powers the heat exchanger likes to not always work. It's a simple fix to just get out and tweak it, fires up immediately but still. All in in all not bad though. AC could be colder.

But you change oil at 50 hours and 500 hours, and then every thousand after that. At least its not a weekly thing
-
So for that initial outlay for the unit. how long until you recoup the cost in fuel savings.
After maintenance costs are added in, of course, and figuring .8 gallons an hour idling the truck. -
I know we are suppose to be all about saving money and all but I spent a couple of weeks running in Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and West Texas. Over 100 everyday and most nights. I slept comfortably. My television kept me company and my refrigerator kept me fed. Cool, calm, and well fed makes me a happy guy and a happy guy makes more money then some cranky old f art. My Dynasys therefore paid for itself the first night.

No it didn't, because you would have been just as well off idling the truck.
Plenty of cool, calm and happy either way.
How far do you have to drive to pay off nearly 10 grand of debt, when the fuel savings are about 2/3 that of idling the truck?
Not as far these days as recent past days, since fuel is cheaper, granted.
It is still a lot of miles. -
Actually , the payback will be maybe a year and a half more than likely, but the saved hours 8n the engine is also worth a lot. Also idling is not friendly to 3gr systems and such. Quality of life in the truck means a lot also. You have never had one have you? And as far as his one night , say 10 gallon used by engine vs 3 gallons on apu, at 2 bucks a gallon that's 14 dollars. 14 dollars a day adds up. Do the math on 200 nights a year. Or more depending on the person. But how do you figure not worrying about the fridge running down batteries, being able to run a microwave, slow cooker etc.???Last edited: Aug 27, 2016
