They will hook to the ECM but you have to purchase the option. It connects to the device via bluetooth.

 

Not sure where you get your info. But it's wrong. JJ Keller does hook to the ECM and meets the proposed guidelines.

 

Just going off what i was told by my boss

 

JJ Keller does say on website their system will be compliant. Seems like if it just a app or software it would be more likely to be hacked so driver could change them. Having the ECM miles and GPS location would be difficult to hack I think. I'd they can do it cheaper then Qualcomm or PeopleNet that would be good and make it more easy for people to switch over to elogs.

Bluetooth is not the most reliable connection as far as once you take smart phone out of truck, they don't always reconnect to the Bluetooth automatically.

 

It's best to use either an old phone or a tablet as a dedicated device for JJ. Then you don't have that issue.

 

How are you keeping track of your HOS now?

 

I'm using ELD/e logs been on them about 2 years. First was Qualcomm and now using Peoplenet.
