Help all of us and join OOIDA.
tucker Thanks this. -
No thanks. Been there, done that. No more.
-
Well they are the best group currently fighting for us. This is part of the problem in the industry is because everyone is "one for all". In times past that my father, grand father and great grand father fought for unions seems to have been wasted. The men that was looking out for us younger generation and the industry worked very hard for this selfish generation to piss it away.
-
You hit the nail on the head. Union. And that's exactly how OOIDA looks at things. I have been anti-Union since I started drawing a paycheck in the late 60's. All I have ever seen unions do is feather their own nest and ignore the actual wishes of their members. Like a blind squirrel, OOIDA will find a nut once in a while, but they also go about things in other ways I want no part of.
-
Well trust me im in the middle of union/non union. Im not union. But im anti bad people. People in this world suck. Men and Women dont honor there word nor do they have ethics. Its all about me,me,me. Not us. Cowpie i agree with alot of your info on here. But you dont have a legal team fighting for us small business trucking companies. If you did id join you. I dont have a team of my own attorneys fighting for my feelings and rights funded by my pockets. Do i agree with everything OOIA has or hasnt done. NO. But there are situations im proud to join them on and pay the small dues that I do to help all of us in the industy and profession. Would I like to have been in the days of teamsters/F.A.S.H like my father, grand father. Hell Yes
-
Only one problem with your assertions. You have virtually zero input on what OOIDA will take up and litigate, nor on the reasoning behind why litigation is being pursued. A legal team would profit advice on how their clients should deal with selected issues. OOIDA's team does not. Like the Minnesota fatigued driving fiasco of a few years back as a glaring example.
-
I know what your saying cowpie. I agree with alot of it. But im not one for saying your wrong im right. We are all right and all getting screwed. Do we continue to fight one on millions. Or join together?
-
We do have input to OOIDA, just like are State Reps, Senators, Governors. We call voice are professional opinion and concerns and hope they pursue issues we have taked about. Will they do everthing we want? NO. Can we keep calling, and writing letters? YES. We still have a voice. The stronger a organization is the more they have to loose. And that paid membership. If they are built up due to are membership, we the people are inpowdered. Why you ask, because we can take that money away just as easy as we give it. But we cant give up on someone when one issue doesnt go your way.
-
And sorry to stray off topic. This is about ELD's. I do not support them. Im supporting a group that is fighting them. If anyone knows of a larger or better group fighting them for us truckers please indicate origination and I will support them too.
