Well they should care (not necessarily like) because that's the POV that hangs us.

How do the slavemasters at your company handle it. does your FM audit your logs, or is that a safety function now?

Don't know yet. Only been back a little over a month. I should probably check my voicemail to see if anyone left me any messages about my logs.

oh...and I thought you still worked there.

I don't know if E - logs has anything to do with it but I have been seeing 2 other companies come along and take all the "high mileage" loads and leaving the city Chicago runs for us. I get someone has to do it but 300 - 325 mile days suck. If we were on E - log you all know it would be a lot less then that

I'm at a company that typically has runs in the 1,500 - 1,800 mile range and e-logs can be managed and dealt with pretty easily. I would refuse to run e-logs if I had to run a lot of the "regional" 200-400 mile freight that's out there.

I was told you can set it up to drop off logs 6 months out daily.....? I don't want them hanging around any longer than I have to.......

Whats with the offsite backup storage deal? And once logs are dropped off can they still be retrieved ? 3 years , 10 or maybe for ever?

    I have a migraine ....:)

No offense meant at all, but just so you're aware, your posts are a lot of work to read.

You can set them to drop at 6 months, I've seen an option for 1 year. Not sure on the off site information, I can ask a guy I know at WebTech. He might be able to give me more information on the offsite backup and how long those records are kept. My guess is they wouldn't keep them any longer than you select them to be stored, but I've been wrong before (but only when guessing)

When you run regional short freight you just need to plan better and take more split breaks. It's the nature of the beast, my company has OTR and regional. The regional fleet is still turning solid miles every week and home every weekend. Just takes a bit more planning than it used to is all.
