it's really not that much of a myth, I have drivers that are on eLogs now that feel more rested. Instead of waiting all day for a load and then having to drive all night they can only work withing their HOS. It makes the planners and dispatcher actually do their jobs to keep drivers moving. When they don't, loads fail and that just upsets everyone. So what we've been seeing is increased utilization and more well rested drivers.

Now that E-logs can't be mandated carriers that use e-logs can have a problem when loads are late shippers know they can go to a carrier using paper logs .
What about drivers that are off duty 10 hours during the day , then told to run all night ?

Drivers off duty during the day are asked to run at night, however if they are unsafe to drive we ask that they stop and rest. If that results in a late load, it results in a late load.

That's the way it is with us . We are told to rest if tired . We are just asked to notify dispatch so customers can be notified if necessary . We are also e-mailed and asked if we want to accept a load before they assign it to us .

Yep, that's what our dispatch does too. However I have empowered the drivers to challenge them with calling safety....any time day or night since we're on call. It seems like it's working and I haven't been fired yet so...

That's when you go over your dispatchers head and report them to safety. A afterhours dispatcher tried that crap on me, and I never heard back from him afterwards.

That is what safety said that I posted.

The last straw was to be up all day, just after the 10 hour break ended at 9 am. Leave at 5 pm to go to the shipper for supposed 7 pm load time which was actually 10 pm. Get loaded drive all night in a blizzard and be at shipper by 5 am.

While on the 10 hour break tomorrow, they would have me go to the shipper and get loaded, so I could drive the next night as well.

Same with Paper logs correct? if a driver sits all day in your scenario and then told to drive all night,,same thing

ELOGS are nothing,,,just make you run 100% compliant,if you dont your 100% non com-pliant,been on them since Feb of this year, not one load late or pushed

And if you were on paper how would this have changed? If you had dropped down on line #4 and did a pretrip at9am you would have forced your clock to start, they couldnt deny that?
