E-LOGS !!

It will say the same thing on an e-log. He will be off duty. Is he servicing the truck himself? Not from your description. To be anal about being legal, just show a 15 min on duty to turn in the truck to the shop. While they are working on it, he can go play tidily winks or play with Mary Jo Rottencrotch and will legally be on a break. Continue on with the 10 break when the truck is done. 10 hr break does not mandate how much time in sleeper. There is no regulation that says that while the truck is being serviced by someone else, that you have to be on duty.

I service my own truck at home. Every time, I am on a 34 hr reset when I do it. Strictly legal? No. But I don't have fear of black helicopters flying over head and seeing if I have the hood open. And the e-log doesn't know the difference. I guess, since there is no receipt or invoice, there is nothing to match up. But that is getting ridiculous.

If you guys are going to worry about so many little details, you had better find another line of work. There is not enough law enforcement out there to monitor each and everything that goes on. The e-logs are not that big of a deal. If you use a little common sense in how you do things, there will never be a red flag go up and cause anyone to have a fit.

 

Elogs won't if he stays below the speed that trips it to driving or he logs personal conveyance .
His safety department might bust him if a service invoice is turned in during his 10 hour break .
