Don't mean to start a new one but searching around didn't yield much to help with my entry level questions.
Questions
1.Basically, I go on duty and do my pre, then start driving a few minutes later and the ELD should do to driving automatically?
2. I'm not driving much since I'm new to the game, lets say I stop for a break, what do I do? Go back to on duty and select a reason or does the truck go back to on duty if I turn it off for a while?
3. Must the ELD stay on and working at all times, even when on personal time?
Thanks for you help in advance, a point to a thread with answers will also work.

1. Yes driving should go on ELD automatically once hit 3-5 mph I think.
2. Go off duty if you left the vehicle and taking break. You will go back on duty the minute you start driving. If you are working on truck or trailer On duty.
3. Yes ideal it is always on. Why would you unplug it and turn it off?Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
You’re going to eventually figure out that with elogs trucking has become a game of minutes
You will learn when to shut the clock off and how to shave every minute you can
If taking a break. Shut it off asap
I show my time for post trip each day and do a shorter pre trip each morning, usually just a quick walk around
I do have to show a couple minutes throughout the day as I run flatbed and need those loads checked more often but I try and log that with a fuel stop or other on duty functions

So let’s say I use my truck on a Sunday to go to Home Depot, personal things, I have to log this?
Let’s say I start he truck and hit PC, will it go into driving once I start driving and count the 8 hrs. How does the personal conveyance work?
Thanks for your time -
if I want to drive truck in PC mode I have to hit off duty and hit the off duty with driving. No big deal if it is not for job duty.DMPCarrier Thanks this.
