That's a joke right? People are hacking ecm's and taking over control of the vehicles remotely thru software but nobody will ever be able to edit them? LoL

Maybe it will not be so bad . It's up to the shippers and receivers to get us in , and out so that we can make our Appts . Leave it to the planners , ie brokers to make sure freight is on time .

I'm serious. It's extremely rare to ever see a company Swift truck that will run wide open. I've seen 2 of them pass me in 16 years. I mean maybe someone who doesn't have a life will invest countless hours hacking a truck ECM so they can make it editable. It's going to be so extremely rare. It ain't gonna happen. Companies aren't going to be wanting their drivers cheating either due to liability. That's all I'mean saying. You're really going out on a limb if you think everyone out here is going to have a quick, easy way to edit their ECM. Going to be just like speed limiters. Everyone that has them runs the company set speed. Everyone will have ELD's and when they do everyone will be in compliance.

I don't think company drivers are going to put forth any effort to get software to edit their ELD.
Independents and O/O would be the target market. They keep telling everyone that ELDs will put them out of business (and the Megas are counting on it).
Don't you think those folks will invest the money necessary to perform these hacks in order to save their livelihood?Canned Spam Thanks this. -
There's not really any reward these days for the risk of it anyways. I don't know why anyone, especially a company driver, would even bother. Typical company driver earns about $800 a week after taxes. Who's going to run illegal for an extra $50 or $100? The work is already thankless enough and low paying as it is. I remember back in the day when I was still a company driver and we considered $1,000 paychecks to be low. And we would cheat as needed to make $1,300 and $1,400 paychecks. Now that was some reward and the risk of anything other than a slap on the wrist was small, I mean, as long as you didn't run over anyone. It's not like that anymore. Most company jobs suck.
