No because I don't want to sit in s truckstop for 2 hours twiddling my thumbs for NO..............reason other than some 10 hour clock hasn't struck yet.
No because I would rather pull over and eat dinner before the urban rush hour and drive the remaining 2 hours after traffic dies without a 14 hour clock expiring first.Tropsnart, Oxbow, KANSAS TRANSIT and 2 others Thank this. -
You are EXACTLY right!!!, NOW, put the blame for that where it belongs, on the HOS and NOT the recording device!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!peterd Thanks this.

i agree on the latter, but disagree on the first. these large carriers are already treating drivers like cattle. i firmly believe they will be dictating that guys drive their full 11 hrs. we've seen how adept fmcsa is at enforcement, look at the carriers that get get shut down with a stack of violations dating for months or years. i expect them as adept at the coercion enforcement.tinytim and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this.

correct,it is the HOS rules that are the issue.Oxbow and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this.
-
it is RARE that i drive more than 9 hrs a day. very rare. i do dry truckloads,my line 4 is negligible.
-
And without elog they would be dictating their guys drive unsafe for other reasons.peterd and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this.
-
the same reasons really. they have a 11 hr drive clock, and these companies want every mile their .28 cents gets them per day.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
I agree some drivers out there are treated like cattle
So then WHY are so many upset about ELDS? You have a 24 hour clock, lets suppose that the HOS is that you can still only drive 11, still only work 14, but you can take a break whenever you want at any time in the day so long as you have at least a full 6 hrs in the bunk before the next day starts.
So now, there is no reason you can't take a break when you want, even if you were to work/drive a full 14 hr day and you had to have 6 consecutive off before the next day, that means you would still have a full 4 more hrs during the day to nap, eat, whatever, would that work in you operation.
I truly believe the biggest issue with the current hos in the 10 hrs in the bunk that lets no other flexibility for other breaks during the day, JMHO -
Of course! Being forced to the HOS is the problem. Let's be pragmatic here. The will never abolish HOS, it would be a miracle, if they want to change a little bit in them too. Without ELDs, we could make little of HOS. "Cheating" was easy and it was standard. Some may say that they never cheated. I say to them: My condolences, what a miserable job you got! I can go home to mama and you can sit at a truck stop and only think of yours because some idiots invented the HOS rules for you.
Somewhere I read that as of beginning of December, still 90% of carriers did not implement ELDs yet. What does it tell us?KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.
